Who's More Annoying?

John Sterling or Steve Sommers?

(Now THAT's a tough one).

Sommers is awesome! What a mench. Sterling is great if you want to be entertained but not if you want to know the score (caveat - I'm a Mets fan).

Sommers was good on the overnight, have never really listened to him lately. I started listening to Yankee games Sterling and Kay were a lot better and more entertaining than whoever was doing it for the Mets.

Jon Sterling is great if you are under the age of nine years old-- once you have reached that age your maturity level usually surpasses his.
Personally, I find Susan Waldman to be the most annoying of them all.

Rescue37, are you kidding? When it was Sterling and Kay (Ham and Cheese, those two, always with the shouting) the mets had Gary Cohen and Bob Murphy. There is/was no better combo (except maybe Gary and Howie who took over).

    And I'm a Yankee fan.

Nobody (in my time) calls a better game than Gary Cohen.

    OOS -

I agree about Suzyn. She was great as the Yankeebeat reporter for WFAN, because she had some access, could come on once or twice a day and drop a nugget or two.

Now? Anyone could do her job. All she does is laugh at Sterling's jokes and read the media notes. No insight into anything.

Seriously, I can not listen to Yankees games on the radio. Sterling and Waldman are each awful in their own right...hearing them together is just downright awful.

It should be noted that Sterling's real name is Harold Moskowitz.

sterling is completely unlistenable. bob murphy a"h was the best play-by-play. howie rose and tom mccarthy are pedestrian. i listen to SNY -- cohen, darling, and hernandez are informative and entertaining, even when not watching the picture.

It's odd. Sterling can be annoying, but he has a lot more freedom to be criticall of the Yankees than the play by play guys of my youth, Rizzuto, Messer, and Bill White.
Some of the best play by play was from the Murphy/Nelson combo, but Bill White/Fran Healy was good too. I liked Michael Kay alot better with Kaat. Al Leiter and Joe Girardi are very good.

Nelson and Murphy (and Kiner) were good but clearly worked for the team.

Whaaaat?!! That's a hard one? Sterling is absolutely unlistenable to. And as for Steve Sommers - well, whom else can you call on the radio and say, "Vos machts du Yid"? Case closed.

John Sterling clearly has to be the most annyoing person on the radio. Ever! Although I am a big fan, I will not listen to Yankee games on CBS. When it's available, I listen to the games in Spanish on Radio WADO, although they don't carry all the games, and my Spanish is pretty poor. But I'd rather get 30% of what's being said than listen to a single minute of Sterling. The best play-by-play guy around now is Johnnie Miller. He makes it worth while to put up with Joe Morgan, but unfortunately, he does so much tv, that it is rare to be able to listen to them call a game on ESPN radio.
