Yet Another Reason I Love My Shul
Our shul, as the Bear once described it, is the Nassau Community College of Shuls. (We let anyone in, get it?).
This past Shabbos I saw something that warmed my heart. One of our members was wearing a Davey Crockett Hat, tail and all, during mincha. The best part is that barely anyone seemed to notice.
You gotta love this place.

Everyone noticed. I barely controlled myself.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear. Of course people noticed, how could you not? But they didn't SEEM to notice; in other words, they took it in stride as just another level of WQ.

Was it a regular tail cap, or was it a face cap (i.e. "The Unique Winner!" according to the link you provided)?

I noticed. MoC is 100% correct- I just took it as a further demonstration of the astronomical WQ.

theres a difference between letting anyone in and being a haven for wierdos. a shul by nature should "allow anyone" in and no shul should be lauded for doing so. it is a sad strate of affairs if a specific shul needs to be singeled out as letting anyone in. and as there are many shuls that bh do, there is a difference between that and being one that attracts the wierdes elements. a good example good be the YU bes medrash which also attracts some of the strangest people on the planet.
then again, whats so outlandish about a davey crockett hat that it stands out any less than those pajamas that carlbachian hippies wear to shul?
