Enough With The Sushi Already

Last night OYD and I had a lovely pre-Knicks game dinner at one of my favorite places, Olympic Pita.

I like Olympic because the food (Mediterranean grill type stuff) is good, it's fast and it's reasonable. And their laffa bread is ridiculously good.

So, we sat down to eat and were handed two menus. A regular menu and A sushi menu! A sushi menu at a Mediterranean grill? What's up with that?

Ich kenesht.

There seems to be some secret P'sak handed down by the Gedolie Yisroel that every Kosher Restaurant must have Sushi. You see it everywhere now. It's especially prevalant in the Medateranian restaraunts. Every Israeli joing now has a sushi bar. It's like 2009's version of east meets west.
It's only a matter of time before KD has Sushi. Then it's all Fafallen.

(I'm thinking there must be a rich jewish fishmonger somewhere secretly paying off the jewish fish lobby to institute this P'Sak. I'm all for herring and the wondrous new flavors we are seeing....but I agree this is out of hand. Plus herring goes good with shnapps. You ever try saki.Yuch)

Don't forget about all the kosher pizza shops that now serve sushi. Sushi and pizza? Umm...

I'm guilty of patronizing such establishments solely for their sushi, though, so...
