Black Black and Whites
On Sunday morning, I went to Gourmet Glatt to buy some things for a tikun for my father's yahrtzeit. I bought some herring, some rugalach, a mandel bread and some crackers.
As I was picking up the baked goods at the Zomicks counter, I stumbled upon an all-black black and white cookie.
"It's not possible", I thought. I had been looking for an all black black and white for years. Only once, more than 20 years ago, did I see one (in Boro Park, of all places). And now, right here in my neighborhood, less than ten minutes from home, I can presumably now get one any time I want.
Life is good.

Bagel Island used to make all whites. I wonder if there are more all white lovers than all black- I'm a white guy.

Yup Gourmet Glatt has them. I like all White Cookies to. Besides herring, and cake for Yartzheits, people are now buying sushi to. There was one with gorgeous sushi platters from Simply Sushi. What happened to the kichel, herring, and cake? Now there is sushi at yartzeit and kiddushim. Wow how the times have changed!

Sushi is the new Herring. I even see the older generations buying Simply Sushi when they are in Gourmet glatt. I think Simply Sushi did a good job of marketing to different generations. They have cooked fish, tuna salad, vegetable stuff, what will they have next a herring roll?!

I am pretty sure my father, zl, never tasted sushi in his life. To bring sushi to a tikun would be too sheeshee for my tastes and would not honor his memory. I think we'll stick with herring for now.

Re black and whites, the idea is to pair with someone who likes the opposite and break them in half ... the perfect shidduch if you ask me.

during the election there was a bakery selling "Obama" and "mccain" cookies- and they had a sign indicating which was "ahead in the polls" I think obama won, the chocolate cookies were more popular.

This is a great blog! Lol I also buy sushi for all occasions. It has become a staple do you agree? I always buy platters from Simply Sushi. They make a great specialty platter that looks fantastic. I took it to a meeting and my coworkers who dont eat kosher said it was the best sushi they ever ate. Kudos Simply Sushi!
